PKO BP moves into Swedish market

PKO BP, Poland’s largest lender, has started operations in Sweden, with planned entry into Germany in the future.

PKO Leasing Sverige was registered in the Stockholm courts in September 2013, the first such move into foreign markets since PKO started operations in Ukraine in 2004.

The action comes as one of the bank’s domestic clients, Solaris Bus & Coach, was planning on taking part in a tender for the delivery of its buses in Sweden. One of the conditions for the tender was financial assurance from the local market.

The bank is also considering moving into markets where Polish businesses are already active.
