Poland’s budget deficit amounted to PLN 2.64 billion, which stands for 5.6 percent of the PLN 47.51 billion deficit budgeted for 2014, the Finance Ministry announced in a statement.
In the first month of 2014, budget income stood at PLN 29.23 billion (10.5 percent of the 2014 budget act), while expenditures amounted to PLN 31.87 billion (9.8 percent).
In January, Poland paid the equivalent of €671.8 millionn in principal and €538.6 million in interest on its foreign debt.
At the end of the month, the Finance Ministry held €4.21 billion in foreign currency at its disposal, the ministry added.
