Poland's telecom sector to contract by 0.6 percent - report

2014 will be the last one when the market will shrink. From 2015 it will return to growth, according to Audytel

Advisory Audytel forecasts that this year, the whole telecom sector while shrink by 0.6 percent year-on-year and will be worth PLN 45.32 billion.

Additionally, the mobile telecoms segment will contract by 1.3 percent and should be worth PLN 22.89 billion by the end of the year., according to the advisory.

The fixed-line segment will continue to decrease in value, albeit at a slower pace than in previous years. The data transmission segment is expected to be stable, the consultancy believes.

According to Audytel, this year will bring more mergers and acquisitions and lists TK Telekom, P4, Multimedia Polska, Netia as possible targets for M&A deals.

The report states that, 2014 will be the last one during which the market will shrink. From 2015 all the sectors, except the fixed-line one, will start to expand.
