Unemployment in Poland remains stubbornly high

Poland’s registered unemployment rate was 13.4 percent at the end of December 2013, according to an estimate published by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy on Thursday. The figure grew by 0.2 percentage points compared to November.

This was the lowest December month-on-month unemployment growth since 2007, the ministry stressed in its statement.

A year ago the growth was at 0.5 percentage points. Some 2.16 million people were registered in Poland’s labor offices. Since November this number has grown by 41,800, the ministry’s data also show.
