Tauron, one of Poland's largest utilities, and Deutsche Telekom's Polish unit, T-Mobile Polska, have signed a partnership agreement and will offer discounted services to each other's customers.
T-Mobile will offer discounts of mobile telephony services to Tauron's clients. In exchange, T-Mobile's customers will be offered discounted electricity prices.
Tauron is the second-biggest power producer in Poland, and sells electricity to more than 5 million customers. Meanwhile, T-Mobile has about 16 million subscribers.
This is the first such cooperation project between a power firm and a telecom in Poland. Such initiatives are likely to develop more when Poland frees the market for electricity prices, analysts quoted by Reuters said.
