Bolivian-born businessman Germán Efromovich, who also holds Polish citizenship, may consider buying LOT Polish Airlines, he told daily Rzeczpospolita in an interview. “I am certainly looking at Alitalia and LOT,” he said.
Mr Efromovich, who owns Colombian airline Avianca, said that another option would be to establish a new airline in Europe. He said he would talk to Polish authorities about his possible acquisition of LOT.
Poland intends to privatize the national airline, possibly as part of a larger aviation holding. Only an EU-based entity will be able to hold more than 50 percent in LOT.
