President Bronisław Komorowski said he was in favor of introducing a new, simpler tax system. The president voiced his support for the idea at a debate on the competitiveness of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
Mr Komorowski said that it was high time to carry out reforms and introduce “new order” in the economy. The first step should be to simplify the tax system. He stressed, however, that tax avoidance should also be minimized.
Mr Komorowski mentioned a “tax lottery” as a way to encourage people to pay their taxes, citing China as an example of a country introducing this into its legislation.
Put simply: in China's system, lottery tickets are printed out with receipts, encouraging customers to ask for receipts more often. This allows for more transactions to be recorded, and therefore, taxed.
