Empik's sales up 12% in 2012

The group plans further expansion into Germany, Russia and Turkey

NFI Empik Media & Fashion, a major Polish retailer of books, music and toys, recorded 12 percent growth in its annual sales revenue to zł.3.24 billion in 2012. Revenue in the fourth quarter amounted to zł.1.12 billion, up by 4 percent year-on-year, the company said.

The company recorded a consolidated net profit of zł.84.73 million in 2012, while the Q4 2012 net profit was zł.73.8 million. The company said that the Smyk (toy and children's clothing stores) and Empik (books and music stores) segments contributed most to the revenue growth.

The group plans to further expand the Smyk network, also by opening stores in Germany, Russia and Turkey. It will also reorganize its Empik stores to further increase sales.
