Poland's largest opposition party Law and Justice (PiS) has presented a motion of no confidence against the Donald Tusk government in parliament. PiS is proposing professor Piotr Gliński as its candidate for prime minister. Mr Gliński also has a list of potential candidates for ministry seats.

Once such a motion is officially presented, the Sejm, Poland's lower house of parliament, must wait seven days before a vote is held. The next two sessions of the Sejm are scheduled for February 19-22 and March 7-8. Sejm Speaker Ewa Kopacz announced that it is unlikely the motion of no confidence would be considered during the upcoming sitting of the Sejm, and that instead it would be voted on at the March 7-8 session.

Poland's constitution stipulates that in order for a vote of no confidence to pass, a majority of the members of the Sejm must vote against the government.
