Six Polish banks are included in this year's top 500 banking brand list compiled by consultancy BrandFinance. They are PKO BP (ranked 124th with $1.25 billion), Bank Pekao (166th), Bank Zachodni WBK (229th), BRE Bank (290th), Bank Millennium (409th) and Bank BPH (449th). As a whole, Poland was ranked 29th on the list of countries with the highest-value banking brands, down by three places since last year. The ranking is based on the estimated value of brands if they belonged to outside owners and had to be paid for by the banks.
Compared to last years ranking, all of the Polish brands except Bank Zachodni WBK are listed lower. And two that were on the list in 2012 (Getin Holding and Getin Noble Bank), have dropped out. Also missing is Kredyt Bank, which was absorbed by Bank Zachodni WBK at the beginning of this year.
