BZ WBK sees profit surge
Poland's third largest lender, BZ WBK, had a net profit of zł.404.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2012, compared to zł.198 million a year earlier. Market analysts had expected it to be zł.337.5.
Net interest income rose by 9.7 percent year-on-year to zł.591.8 million, while the income from fees and commissions rose to zł.364.6 million from zł.330 million.
The bank said that its 2012 net profit was zł.1.43 billion compared to zł.1.18 billion in 2011. BZ WBK is currently in the process of merging with Kredyt Bank.
