Billions have been spent to upgrade Poland's road infrastructure in recent years

Poland badly needs good roads

A tender for a perimeter road through Marki is expected to be announced within three months. Rzeczpospolita reports it will be the last one for which there is money in the budget. The tender for the construction of the S8 highway from Warsaw to Marki-Radzymin, essentially a ring road around Marki, is estimated to cost around zł.1 billion.

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) expects to select the contractor later this year. The investment is expected to exhaust the pool of zł.82 billion available to the GDDKiA for road investments. No further investments are expected until a new EU budget is unveiled for 2014-2020.
