Poland ranks 32nd in the Legatum Institute's prosperity index, the fourth of its kind by the British institute. This year, it ranked 142 countries - 32 more than in the previous edition. According to the authors, the study includes 96 percent of the world's population and takes into account 99 percent of the world's GDP.
The index factors in the state of the economy, entrepreneurship and opportunity, governance, education, health, safety and security, personal freedom and social capital.
Poland's ranking worsened in this study, falling by four spots compared to last year. In the index's various categories, Poland did best in security (25) but had its worst position in the economic situation ranking (52).
Scandinavian countries topped the ranking, with Norway in first place, Denmark in second place and Sweden in third. The Central African Republic ranked last, at 142nd.
