Treasury minister: nuclear power plant to be built
Treasury Minister Mikołaj Budzanowski has announced that the nuclear power plant planned by PGE will come into being, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reported.
“It is not impossible that Inwestycje Polskie [an as-yet state-created venture capital fund announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk a few weeks ago] will support the project.”
This could represent a financial guarantee for PGE which will be responsible for the construction of the first nuclear power plant.
The formal decision about Inwestycje Polskie’s involvement will not be made before 2015, when the construction costs of the 3,000 MW power plant will be known. Current estimates suggest it will cost at least zł.35 billion, but could go as high as zł.60 billion.
