Russian gas giant Gazprom will register its overseas assets in Switzerland, RIA Novosti reported last week. In doing so, the company will not have to establish two independent branches, as required by EU legislation. The European Commission has no right to carry out investigations in Switzerland, which is not a member of the EU. In early September, the EC launched an antitrust investigation into Gazprom’s activities.
