At the beginning of next year, Poland's state-run Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) will take concrete steps towards tackling its dependence on its sole IT services supplier – Asseco Poland – and will announce two tenders.
Apart from weakening Asseco Poland's monopolistic position vis-a-vis ZUS, the move is also intended to cut costs regarding network maintenance.
For the first time, ZUS will choose through a public tender suppliers who will take care of maintenance and development of KSI – a gigantic system, created for zł.3 billion by Prokom Software and maintained in recent years by Asseco.
Asseco took over Prokom Software, which originally had the ZUS contract, six years ago.
“With a three year contract, the value of both orders could exceed zł.500 million,” said Dariusz ¦piewak, vice president of ZUS responsible for IT affairs.
