Polish food exports to reach €16 billion
Poland is gaining importance on global markets as a producer of meat, apples, milk, beer and candy. "This year's export surplus will reach €3 billion," said Stanisław Kalemba, Agriculture Minister. The sales of Polish food products on foreign markets is expected to reach €16 billion, having increased by €11.5 billion since 2003. The largest surplus is recorded in the production of poultry."
In this segment Poland ranks third in Europe. When it comes to production of apples – we are the first," said Mr Kalemba. Experts agree that food exports will grow, but not only thanks to EU markets.
According to Witold Choiński, chairman of the Polish Meat Association, the meat products made in Poland are also highly appreciated in the Far East.
