PGNiG intensifies shale gas drilling
Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo (PGNiG) has begun drilling its fourth vertical exploration hole in search for shale gas. The borehole, called Opalino-2, is located on the Wejherowo concession in the Pomerania, northern Poland.
The work, focused on drilling 3 kilometers down, will take some two months. This year PGNiG is planning to drill a few more boreholes. When they will start and how many of them will be launched depends on administrative permits.
“We want to conduct both vertical and horizontal drilling, which will allow us to more precisely estimate the deposits,” PGNiG spokesperson Joanna Zakrzewska was quoted by Parkiet as saying.
