According to estimates by PL.2012, the body charged with preparing Poland for Euro 2012, projects worth some zł.13 billion won't be ready in time for the soccer tournament, which starts in June. That's out of a total of zł.94.1 billion in planned investments for Euro 2012.

Not one of the roads in the government's 2008 infrastructure plan will be built in full before the start of the tournament, Rzeczpospolita wrote.

“Only 40 percent of total planned road building will be completed,” said Janusz Piechociński, vice president of the lower house of parliament's infrastructure committee. He added that none of the host cities will be connected directly with one another by new road or rail connections.

In brighter news, airport investments have been carried out successfully in preparation for the tournament.

“Completed airport investments are now sufficient to handle traffic that is projected for 2020,” said Mr Piechociński.

Moreover, host cities have gained many new hotels while mobile phone operators have increased the capacity of their networks.
