Polish food exports an international hit
In the first 11 months of 2011, Polish companies sold €13.8 billion worth of food products abroad, according to data from the Economy Ministry.
That is an increase of 12 percent from the same period of 2010 and a three-fold increase from 2004, the year when Poland joined the EU.
High export levels in 2011 were fueled by a weak złoty.
Among the most popular Polish food products is milk, with Algeria last year becoming the biggest buyer of Polish condensed milk and cream, followed closely by Germany, Bulgaria, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Other countries that import Polish milk products include Mexico, Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal and the Philippines.
