Only 12 out of a total 1,575 local governments in Poland have enough money to proceed with planned infrastructure investments, according to a recent survey of local administrations by market research firm Pentor.

The biggest problems concern the construction of local road infrastructure, with 73 percent of respondents saying more money was needed for these investments.

“We spend zł.160 million per year on investments, of which zł.100 million goes on road projects. This is a huge amount of the capabilities of our government, and even then it is only enough to upgrade the existing road network,” Adam Fudali, the mayor of Rybnika, told Puls Biznesu.

Last year, zł.57 billion was allocated to the country's local authorities, although not all the money has been received, the newspaper reported.
