Bus production up in 2011, demand forecast to fall
Bus production in Poland rose by 11 percent year-on-year in 2011, with 4,632 buses leaving Polish plants, reported Gazeta Wyborcza.
German firm MAN remained the market leader, producing 1,565 buses in Poland last year, according to a report published by consulting company JMK. Second place went to Poland's Solaris Bus & Coaches which manufactured 1,140 vehicles.
This year, domestic carriers are expected to buy around 1,100 buses, some 20 percent fewer than in 2011, JMK predicted in the report. However, Polish bus exports have risen recently which means Polish firms will hope foreign sales can compensate for a drop in domestic demand over the next 12 months.
