Central and Eastern European banks are amongst the strongest in the world, according to a recent report drawn-up by the Boston Consulting Group, reported Parkiet.

The company, which researched 145 financial institutions, evaluated the effects of new capital reserve requirements being imposed by the Basel III regulations.

When they come into force, CEE financial services firms' capital adequacy ratios are expected to shrink by around 2.6 percent, but still remain at a relatively high level of 11.4 percent. That puts them at the forefront in the global banking market.

According to the BCG, CEE banks' healthy conditions are a result of strong regulatory policies.
