Taliban fighter suspected of killing 5 Polish soldiers is captured
US and Afghan special forces have captured a Taliban fighter suspected of directing a roadside bomb attack that killed five Polish soldiers in Afghanistan on December 21, 2011, reported Gazeta Wyborcza.
The Polish soldiers, who came from the 20th Mechanized Brigade, were killed while driving on a road through the Ghazni province.
“The man in question, Mashahud, was reportedly stopped at the Afghan-Pakistani border in the province of Nangarhar,” Captain Dariusz Guzenda, spokesperson for the Polish Task Force in Afghanistan, told journalists.
Mashahud is now being questioned by the Afghan secret service. However, Mr Guzenda said the military is convinced that the attack was not carried out by one man alone.
