Polkomtel began laying off senior managers last week in a move which could signal the first step in a large-scale restructuring of the company, reported Parkiet.
According to telecommunications industry information portal Telopolis.pl, 28 managers were dismissed, most of whom were associated with the sales and marketing departments, Parkiet wrote.
But when news emerged recently that Polkomtel might cut up to 1,400 jobs, the company's new owner, Zygmunt Solorz-Żak, said that no decisions on employment reduction had been made so far.
At the end of September 2011 Polkomtel employed approximately 4,100 people.
