The weak złoty has signaled unexpectedly good news for Poland's car dealers, reported Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
New car buyers from the euro zone, in particular from countries such as Germany and Slovakia, have found that the current exchange rate means they can purchase a new car from Poland at about 20 to 30 percent cheaper than in their home markets.
For example a high-end BMW 650i in Poland can save a German car buyer up to €11,000, while a new VW Passat or Opel Astra is €5,000 to €7,000 cheaper in Poland than across the border.
“The first customers from beyond the Oder [river] began to appear with us in September. The more the złoty weakened, the more they came. Just last week we sold a dozen cars to Germany,” a salesman from a Volkswagen showroom located near Poland's western border told DGP.
