Companies registered in Luxembourg accounted for the highest amount of foreign direct investment into Poland in 2010, according to data from the National Bank of Poland (NBP), as cited by Parkiet.
Companies from Luxembourg invested a total of €1.9 billion in FDI in Poland last year.
Germany and Italy were in second and third place respectively, while Cyprus came in
fourth.
“Both Luxembourg and Cyprus are tax havens. One suspects that part of the capital that flows from there actually comes from the Poles,” Piotr Soroczyński, chief economist at Export Credit Insurance Corporation, told Parkiet.
With regard to all foreign direct investment from 2010 and earlier, the Netherlands is ranked in first place with €26.8 billion, followed by Germany (€20.4 billion), France (€18.7 billion), Luxembourg (€13.1 billion) and the US (€9.3 billion).
