Warsaw councilors have voted to approve the sale of an 85-percent stake in municipal heat distributor SPEC to the Polish arm of energy concern Dalkia, Rzeczpospolita reported.
Warsaw’s President Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz told reporters that the privatization of the heating company will mean smaller heat-price increases for residents of the Polish capital.
She added that Dalkia had presented the best offer and the best program for SPEC's future development.
Based on an initial agreement signed in July, Dalkia Polska will pay zł.1.44 billion for the 85-percent stake in SPEC.
The transaction is subject to approval by the European Commission.
