According to German business daily Handelsblatt, RTL Group, one of Europe's largest TV broadcasters, is considering making a bid for Polish broadcaster TVN, Parkiet reported.

ITI Group, the owner of TVN, has for a while now expressed interest in selling its 56-percent holding in the company.

RTL CEO Gerhard Zeiler expressed his firm's interest in the stake, reportedly telling Handelsblatt that, “Naturally, we are looking to growing markets in many regions around the world. And Poland is a market we are interested in.”

The RTL Group could pay up to €1 billion for the stake, Rzeczpospolita wrote.

Other potential contenders for the purchase of TVN include Vivendi, as well as Time Warner, media reports suggest.

The RTL Group, which is headquartered in Luxembourg, is controlled by Bertelsmann, a multinational media corporation based in Germany.
