Poland's online food market will be worth zł.300 million in 2011, according to estimates made by Euromonitor International, as cited by Parkiet.
The average amount spent on a single web-based grocery transaction is now well in advance of the zł.100 average spent on the conventional market, the newspaper wrote.
The Alma24.pl network, part of the Alma supermarket chain, already has 100,000 e-customers and operates in 11 cities across Poland, with the average transaction now amounting to between zł.200-zł.300, Justyna Zajączkowska, a spokesperson for Alma, told Parkiet.
In 2010, the firm's e-revenues totaled zł.30 million, while Poznań-based food retailer Piotr i Paweł also had good results last year, with its e-network generating over zł.25 million in sales.
