On Friday, President Komorowski’s office announced that, during his visit to Poland last week, He Guoqiang, a senior official in China’s ruling Communist Party, invited the Polish President to make an official visit to China at the end of this year.
He said that “China attaches great importance to its relations with the EU,” and expressed his hope that during its presidency of the EU Poland would be able to help solve existing problems in trade and other areas between China and the EU, according to a report by China Daily.
President Komorowski, for his part, said that Poland could provide positive conditions for cooperation between the EU and China, adding that Poland would take advantage of their presidency of the EU to promote bilateral ties, reported Xinhua News Agency.
Poland was one of the first countries in the world to establish diplomatic relations with the PRC in 1949 and, as such, the countries have long enjoyed friendly relations. The Chinese economic boom then created an important market for Poland, further strengthening relations between the two countries.
Poland's total foreign trade turnover with China between January and April this year already reached $5.5 billion.
President Komorowski’s upcoming visit to China would “help make new progress on China-Poland cooperation in all areas,” He Guoqiang was quoted as saying by China Daily.
