A new king has been crowned in the TV industry. After a long reign, public broadcaster TVP has been dethroned as the largest television programming provider in Poland in terms of revenues.
According to Puls Biznesu, the company fell to second place in the market on December 31, 2010. Poland's television throne was assumed by fellow Polish network TVN and analysts say times are changing for Polish TV, with the public broadcaster slipping from the top spot despite strong audience ratings and zł.200 million from subscribers.
TVP brought in nearly zł.50 million less last year than it did the year before. Analysts see large growth potential in the private broadcasters, as the average TVN or Polsat viewer is seen as a more attractive target for advertisers.
