French artists whose works are displayed in the exhibition include Eugéne Delacroix, Paul Delaroche, Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps, Théodore Chassériau and Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres.
Also included are the works of Polish artists of the period, including Piotr Michałowski, Henryk Rodakowski, Józef Simmler, Jan Matejko, Artur Grottger and Teofil Kwiatkowski.
The bulk of the exhibition is formed from the museum’s existing collections, although various pieces have also been acquired from institutions both in Poland and abroad – for example Norway’s National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo, and several French institutions, such as the Louvre, have donated works.
