World Bank to cease lending to PKO Bank Polski?
The World Bank has noticed an improvement in Polish macroeconomic conditions and is considering whether to continue supporting state-owned PKO Bank Polski with a loan, said Anna Kowalczyk, spokesperson for the World Bank in Poland.
“In the current situation we can modify the offer or even withdraw from it,” she added.
In the spring of last year the World Bank said it would enter into talks with the Polish bank with regards to a credit line worth $500 million for the development of small and medium-sized businesses. And having given the government the third tranche of a loan intended for general development, worth €3 billion, the World Bank is now concentrating on advisory programs.
