Four Polish "faces" of Euro 2012
Lech Wałęsa will be Poland's leading representative
European soccer's governing body UEFA has honored four Poles with the title “faces of 2012” and the soccer organization chose the former president Lech Wałęsa as the primary representative of the event.
Martin Kallen, the director for organizing the event, will fly in specially to present Mr Wałęsa on Saturday with the symbolic honor. The selections had been kept quiet until this late date, however Gazeta Wyborcza managed to find out anyway who would be the leading “face” of the competition.
The other three Poles to be honored are Maryla Rodowicz (a legendary singer), Robert Korzeniowski (an Olympic gold medal race walker), and Józef Młynarczyk (a former goalkeeper for Poland).
