AmRest: Polish restaurant sector recovering
The heads of KFC, AmRest and Pizza Hut chains claim a recovery is finally coming to the Polish restaurant sector in the third quarter.
AmRest says it saw net profits of zł.23.9 million after the first half of the year, faring fairly well despite stiff competition in a tough restaurant market. Last year at this time, the group had made zł.25.4 million.
Its revenues were down slightly, to zł.982 million compared to more than zł.1 billion at the half of 2009. But company execs say the loss of sales has a lot to do with the strengthening of the złoty against the US dollar.
