Euro 2012 fans can drink, says minister
Adam Giersz, the Minister of Sport, during a visit to the stadium site in Poznań, has said that as long as the safety situation continues to improve, fans coming for the Euro 2012 soccer championship would be able to enjoy beer while watching the games.
“As long as the safety conditions at Polish stadiums continue to improve we will prepare changes to the law,” said Mr Giersz, talking to gazeta.pl.
There is currently a prohibition on alcoholic beverages across Poland for domestic as well as international soccer matches. But with the major international event coming, and with many of the main sponsors being beer companies, the Ministry of Sport is keen to see changes in place for the championship.
