It was a good first half of 2010 for domestic firms. Their total profit was some six percent higher than a year earlier, according to data released by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) on Friday.
The total net profit made by domestic firms after six months amounted to zł.39.3 billion. The encouraging statistics released by GUS included other positive trends in addition to firms' overall earnings. Sales increased faster than costs, at 2.9 percent and 2.7 percent respectively. Generally speaking, the larger firms were the strongest performers.
Andrziej Halesiak, director of economic analysis at Bank BHP, is cautious about predicting future growth. In his opinion, Q3 should see financial stability depending on the situation in the rest of the EU.
