“It is incredible that nobody has been held responsible for the Smolensk tragedy. In an average democratic country, after such events, the government would be swept off the face of the Earth and its members wouldn't have any more business in politics,” said the leader of Law and Justice (PiS) Jarosław Kaczyński before a meeting with prosecutors concerning the Smolensk tragedy.
“In Poland, the government is doing just fine and a person who has many strange statements on his conscience is president.”
Mr Kaczyński added that this showed that one couldn't speak of democracy in Poland, but rather of a transparent facade. The PiS leader also said he would demand the investigation be open to the public irrespective of how that would affect Polish-Russian relations.
The comments came before an meeting of the victims' family members with the Military Prosecutors in charge of the investigation.
