The General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces estimates that NATO Interoperability Standards and Profiles will only transfer up to 60 percent of its dues for completed construction projects this year. Indeed, last year some construction companies contracted by NATO were paid late.
Poland remains NATO’s largest destination for construction projects, and these are expected bring Polish building companies €750 million by 2014. The problems with financing investments are partially due to the economic downturn, and partially due to the ever-greater cost of operations in Afghanistan.
“On Monday the Ministry of National Defense will look for solutions, which will ensure the continued modernization of strategic bases and save the companies involved from experiencing problems,” Wiesław Grzegorzewski of the ministry’s press office told Rzeczpospolita.
