The Centre for EU Transport Projects will sign six contracts for the support of transport projects through subsidies on Wednesday.

The contracts with Polish State Railways (PKP) and the General Inspectorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) could be worth a total of zł.2.423 billion. Road projects which will benefit from subsidies include 35 km of express route 5 from Gniezno to Poznań and 6.5 km of national highway along that section of road. The investment is worth zł.1.5 billion, of which zł.1.12 billion will come from Brussels.

A 4.1 km Miękowo bypass on national highway 3 worth zł.65 million will receive zł.50 million from the EU. The EU will also give zł.28.16 million towards the zł.84.9 million construction of national highway 5 through Poznań and zł. 31.2 million towads a zł.38.11 million investment in national highway 69 in Bielsko-Biała.

The EU will also help fund rail links to the Fryderyk Chopin International Airport in Warsaw, which was supposed to be completed with subsidies available for the period 2004-2006 but, according to PKP, was delayed due to the draftsman's untimeliness.

Fast Urban Railway (SKM) will also receive zł.150 million towards purchasing thirteen new electric trains worth zł.369.5 million, which will travel to and from the airport.
