The world's biggest sporting spectacle is now behind us and as World Cup fever cools for another four years, television companies are counting their winnings. In Poland, television provider TVP came out on top. Some 8.2 million people watched Spain beat the Netherlands in the final game of the tournament, giving the station a 62-percent market share.

TVP Sport drew another 300,000 spectators in a parallel broadcast of the big match.

Final numbers are not yet in, but TVP insiders say this was the first World Cup that didn't end in a deficit for the station, which sold a record number of ads that ran during the broadcast and online.
