The Film Summer (“Lato Filmów”) film and art festival is an event dedicated to movies and one of the most often overlooked elements of the art-film industry – the script.
The festival promotes Polish achievements in the field of screenwriting. The best pieces are shown in the festival’s International Movie Contest with Best Script. There is also a new category for short films.
This year, audiences also have a chance to get a glimpse of the work of one of Spain’s most outstanding screenwriters, Rafael Azcona, alongside the works of several members of the old school of Polish screenwriting, such as Tadeusz Chmielewski and Krzysztof Teodor Toeplitz.
Screenings will take place in Kino Rejs, Kino Kultura and Kino Luna in Warsaw. The festival will be accompanied by the Script Forum – the biggest industry event dedicated to the people involved in the art of film and television screenwriting – and by many art exhibitions and parties in clubs and cafes. There are also lectures, seminars and discussions.
