The “Briesen” exhibit at Projekt Kordegarda comprises the latest installment in Krzysztof Zieliński’s ongoing photography series of the same name.
The title “Briesen” refers to the German name for Mr Zieliński’s birthplace, W±brze¼no, while the series focuses on the author’s current home, Berlin.
Having begun working on the series in 1995, the photography strips away the predictable big-city rush and flair, creating an image more akin to a small town. The photographs are filled with symbolism, emanate nostalgia and evince the city’s timelessness.
The artist focuses on dirty walls, old storefronts, messy apartments, gray streets and seemingly random objects to create a unique and captivating effect.
In this way, Mr Zieliński reduces the urban metropolis of Berlin into a small-town landscape reminiscent of his birthplace.
The show runs through July 25 at Projekt Kordegarda, ul. Ga³czyńskiego 3.
