Whether you’re interested in learning more about Poland’s most famous classical composer or you’d like to visit a shrine dedicated to him, the recently opened Fryderyk Chopin Museum is your best bet. This hi-tech museum, cited in the beautiful Ostrogski Palace on ul. Tamka, offers visitors a multimedia, multi-sensory Chopin experience.
If you have had indifferent experiences with Polish museums so far, don’t worry, it’s difficult to be disappointed by this effort. The Fryderyk Chopin Museum is the latest in a new generation of Polish museums which take inspiration from the interactivity of many Western museums. When exploring the Paris room, for example, you can even smell the city’s violets.
No sour-faced guards are installed to glare at you or reprimand you for getting too close to the the artifacts. Instead, you swipe your electronic pass and set off at your own pace through a sensory wonderland. To make sure each visitor gets to fully appreciate the experience, only 50 visitors are allowed in the museum at one time.
Much praise for the final outcome of the museum must go to the Italy-based Migliore + Servetto design studio, which masterminded the concept.
Demand is pretty high at the moment and it’s definitely worth booking ahead. Reserve a spot online at, www.chopin.museum/en, email kasy@muzuemchopina.com or phone (22) 441 62 51.
