Turkey's national airline has expressed an interest in purchasing Poland's Lot – which has been experiencing financial difficulties.
"I'd like to buy Lot, although no final decision has been made. I know Lot is undergoing restructuring, so one will have to wait a while. But there's room for consolidation in the region and I have no intention of letting such an opportunity pass," Temel Kotil, Turkish Airlines CEO told Rzeczpospolita in an interview.
Lot is one of the state-owned companies the Polish government wants to sell in order to reduce the budget deficit, although such a sale in not planned before 2011, the treasury ministry announced earlier in the year.
In 2008 the Polish airline made a loss of zł.733 million. (RG)
