Seemingly out of the blue, Poland has joined a group of the fastest-growing prescription drug markets in the world, reports Puls Biznesu.

The findings come from consulting firm IMS Health, whose emerging pharmaceutical markets list Poland for the first time.

In order to make the list, a country must have a GDP of more than $25,000 per resident and a growing market for pharmaceuticals.

China leads the top 20 list, followed by Brazil, Russia and India. Poland is among the 17 other countries on the list.

IMS Health estimates the drug markets in Poland, Venezuela, Argentina, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine will each rise between $1-5 billion come 2013.
