“In the Light” presents a range of work in which light features as the protagonist in a series of interactive installations. These pieces make use of various media to highlight the captivating effect of light, particularly the light cast by stars. The exhibition is German artist Ulrich Vogl’s first in Poland.
Vogl explores the human fascination with the cosmos and the lights that gleam and glitter, whether that’s the milky way, a crystal chandelier or simply the radiant aura of a movie star, emphasized, of course, by showlights. Using glass, mirrors, projectors, primitive telescopes or, simply aluminum foil, Vogl creates a magical exhibition of real and imagined worlds in which darkness exists in order for light to be that much brighter.
The show is on through May 15 at the Le Guern Gallery.
