By the end of February, the Polish budget deficit already stood at around a fifth of the amount planned for the full-year, a government source told Reuters on Monday.

“Preliminary data on performance of the budget showed the deficit at the end of February probably exceeded zł.10 billion, but it will probably not top zł.15 billion,” said the source, who asked not to be named.

Michał Boni, a top aide to PM Donald Tusk, had earlier said that the year's budget could come in at about zł.10-15 billion below the target of zł.52.2 billion. (RG)
