Unemployment will not fall for another two years
Unemployment in Poland will not start to fall before the end of 2012, according to the government's convergence plan, preparing the country to adopt the euro.
According to the government's forecasts, unemployment measured using the European standard BAEL system will stand at 9.2 percent at the end of this year, rising slightly to 9.3 percent at the end of 2011.
It will begin to fall slowly in 2012, ending 2012 at 8.9 percent – the same level as two months ago.
"The predictions in the convergence program have to be as conservative as possible, meaning pessimistic," said Mateusz Walewski, an economist with the CASE foundation.
